AI Act & compliance

The EU AI Act can apply to organisations and individuals that provide, deploy (use), import or distribute AI systems in the EU. You do not have to build AI yourself: using an AI system in a professional capacity can already bring obligations. The Act can also apply to organisations established outside the EU when the output of their AI system is used in the EU.

Your obligations depend on your role, the AI system involved and how it is used.

Not sure which role applies to you? Our free Compliance Scan can help you determine where you stand.

The requirements depend on several factors, including your role under the AI Act, the type of AI system or model and its risk level. This means that not every organisation has the same obligations.

Our free Compliance Scan shows you which role you have and which parts of the AI Act apply to you. If you want to know specifically what you already meet and what you still need to change to become compliant, the Gap Analysis takes you through that step by step.

Yes. The AI Act distinguishes between different roles, such as providers, deployers, importers and distributors. Each role comes with its own responsibilities and requirements.

An organisation can also have more than one role, depending on how it develops, provides or uses AI.

Not sure about your role, or in doubt between two? The free Compliance Scan determines it for you.

Non compliance can lead to regulatory action and, depending on the violation, significant fines. Penalties are tiered: the highest fines apply to prohibited AI practices, with lower maximums for other breaches. For SMEs the lower of the two amounts applies.

The obligations also take effect in phases, so which requirements are enforceable depends on the date as well as on the requirement involved and the circumstances of the violation. Beyond fines, non compliance can create legal, operational and reputational risks.

Compliance Scan

The Compliance Scan helps you identify your role under the AI Act and gives you an initial overview of which legal requirements may apply to your situation.

It provides a clear starting point for understanding your AI compliance obligations.

Yes. The Compliance Scan is completely free to use. We believe understanding which AI Act requirements apply to you should be accessible before deciding whether you need further support.

The time needed depends on your situation and the answers you provide, but the scan is designed to give you an initial assessment quickly and without unnecessary complexity.

No. The Compliance Scan helps you understand your role and the requirements that may apply to you. It does not certify or guarantee that you are compliant.

If you want to assess which requirements you already meet and where action is still needed, the Gap Analysis is the next step.

Gap Analysis

The Compliance Scan helps you understand your role and which AI Act requirements may apply to you. The Gap Analysis goes a step further by assessing which of those requirements you already meet and where gaps remain.

This gives you a clearer picture of your current level of compliance and the actions still needed.

After completing the Gap Analysis, you receive a detailed report showing which AI Act requirements apply to your situation, which requirements you already meet and where gaps remain.

The report gives you a clear overview of your current compliance status and the areas that still require action, so you can use it as a practical starting point for your next steps.

No. The Gap Analysis provides an assessment based on the information you provide. It helps you identify what is already in place and what still needs to be addressed, but it does not certify your organisation as compliant.

The Gap Analysis report gives you a clear overview of the requirements you already meet and the areas that still need attention. You can use this overview to work on the identified gaps yourself.
